Teaching requirements

Don’t have any teaching experience? You don't need any even though it's always welcome. You will, however, need the highlighted requirements in order for the government to issue you an ESL teaching work visa. Don’t have all these documents on hand? You can apply and provide them later.

After shadowing a teacher and going through the curriculum, you’ll start teaching your own lessons.

TEFL Certification

TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language, but is often used to describe the basic-level certification qualifying someone to teach ESL.

You will need a TEFL certificate before you arrive to teach English at EF. If you accept a position with EF English First, we will sponsor a 120-hour online TEFL course through one of our globally recognized partners. The TEFL certification course and training could save you up to $500.
