Teacher Recruitment and Training

1. Subsidised participants enrol on the understanding that on successful completion of their TEFL training, they agree to take up a twelve month contract with an EF English First school in China, Indonesia or Russia (9-month contracts in Russia) and that this contract must begin within three months of the course end-date, except by prior arrangement at interview. Failure to comply means that participants are liable for the full market value of the course.



2. All participants on the Subsidised TEFL Training Programme agree to be placed with an EF English First school through the UK recruitment office. Participants must not contact EF English First schools directly until authorised to do so.



3. Selection is by prior interview. The minimum educational requirement is qualifications enabling access to higher education, such as 'A' levels. The minimum age is 20 (by completion of the TEFL training) and candidates are selected based on their suitability for employment with EF English First.



4. At the end of the TEFL training course trainees will be asked to choose their preferred locations from a choice of current vacancies. Whilst every effort will be made to match your preferences no guarantee can be made.



5. TEFL certificates will be sent out to your school in China, Indonesia or Russia after the completion of the 3-month probation period.



6. We require applicants to declare any criminal record, pre-existing health problems or learning difficulty upon application. Failure to do so may result in the participant being asked to withdraw from our TEFL training programme.



7. Course-fees are non-refundable unless a course is cancelled.



8. Course participants are expected to treat all trainers and colleagues with respect; attend all sessions and to complete all assignments. Failure to comply may result in the participant being asked to withdraw from the course with no refund of fees. Intimidation of fellow course participants will not be tolerated.



9. Neither attendance on the TEFL training course nor completion of teaching practice and assignments guarantees the award of a TEFL certificate. Please refer to the course director for details on our criteria for assessment.



10. EF English First will not be liable in any way to the participant in the event of any service contracted to be supplied by EF becoming impossible to supply by reason of industrial dispute or other cause outside its control. EF will not be liable for loss, damage or injury to persons or property howsoever caused, save where the liability is expressly imposed beyond exclusion by statute.

Note: EF Education Ltd guarantees a job placement in EF English First franchise schools in China , Indonesia or Russia for all candidates who pass their initial TEFL training. The majority of candidates take up their placements within 1 month of completing the course*.

*Please note delays in taking up a placement may occur due to events beyond the control of EF Education Ltd
