Teaching Jobs in China
EF English First teachers have a very good lifestyle in China with an employment package that in most cases equates in monetary terms to roughly $17,500 USD per annum after tax. The package includes:
- A monthly salary paid in local currency and equivalent to that of a local, highly paid Chinese manager
- Flights to and from the employment destination for all candidates completing a 12-month contract
- A room in shared accommodation- no rent charged
- Legal working papers, and relevant ID cards as required
- Health insurance
- Teacher Life Care Program
- Free Mandarin Classes
Flights
EF English First has a standard contract for teaching jobs in China and offers a complete package, which takes the hassle out of moving abroad. Part of our package includes flights - making sure that at the end of your contract you can return to your hometown*. EF English First schools will pay for flights to and from the employment destination for all candidates completing a 12-month contract.
Accommodation
In the majority of cases EF English First's care package includes a room in shared accommodation - a minority of schools offer assistance in finding suitable accommodation and a housing allowance. Typically candidates share a flat with one other teacher - due to cultural norms in China these are usually single sex occupancies although if you are travelling with a partner you can be accommodated together. All flats have a shared living area with TV, shared kitchen (including microwave) and a western style toilet and bathroom.
Whenever possible, EF schools attempt to house all teachers in the same block of flats. All flats are in affluent areas with good amenities- supermarket etc. and in many cases within walking distance of the school. All accommodation is provided free of charge but utility bills are paid by the occupants.
Visas
All EF English First teachers have correct working papers, and relevant ID cards as required. You will be guided through the visa application process by your Director of Studies.
