Academic Management
One of our Directors of Studies (DoS) said it best: "In my role as a DoS, I was part scholar, part teammate and part firefighter." DoS‘s wear many hats at EF in their endeavors to provide academic management services to the school, not least of which involves building camaraderie amongst the teachers. Their daily academic management duties require our directors to be versatile, approachable and ready for anything.
Daily academic management duties of a DoS
- Providing academic support, guidance and training for teachers
- Managing resources (human and material)
- Observing and evaluating teachers
- Scheduling classes
- Controlling the quality of the academic programs
- Overseeing of placement testing for prospective students
- Organizing extra-curricular activities
- Participating in the growth and development of the school
Teacher Management
A Director of Studies can be compared to a team captain. It is their job to exert academic management in order to build the character and dynamic of the team. As part of your daily duties, you'll have the opportunity to continue your own teaching while providing guidance and support to the newer teaching staff.
Teacher Development
At EF, we strive to continually improve our academics, and as a DoS, you will be a key driver of the academic integrity and teaching quality in your school. DoSs facilitate new teacher induction trainings and regular continuous professional development meetings.
