TEACHING ENGLISH IN SEMARANG

Semarang is located on the northern coast of Indonesia and is the capital city of central Java. Local people are very friendly towards westerners, often meeting people with a kind curiosity. You might feel like a minor celebrity when you’re out and about.

The architecture in the city is mostly traditional with some old Dutch colonial buildings. There are a growing number of high-rise buildings appearing, but the city remains traditional. Semarang is built on a cluster of hills which means you will get some great views from the local restaurants.

Semarang is in a great location. The city has an accessible international airport, so it’s easy to get around.  You can also take the ferry to the Karimunjawa Islands or the bus to Yogyakarta for Borobudur.

The cost of living in Semarang is low. Houses are not expensive to rent, and it is not expensive to eat out in restaurants. Public transport, including taxis, aren’t expensive. You’ll find a variety of transport that will help yu start your adventure and help you explore.

  • Rail links make it possible to reach Jakarta in 5 hours and Surabaya in 3 hours.
  • Low cost of living. Despite being the 5th largest city in Indonesia, the cost of living is quite low, and it has modern facilities at a low price.
  • The food here is traditional, but the city is widely known for its Bandeng Presto and Lumpia.
